Changing duty - advice please

Hi is there anywhere that says a duty becomes yours if you've been doing it for a certain amount of time? The duty I've been on for 2 years has just been offered to someone else. I was moved there as my old job on bikes doesn't exist any more. My rep hasn't been any help so would like some advice if possible. thanks.

sorry but the duty should have been put up for signing even after two years then the most senior person who wants it will get it.

I have often heard this quoted but never seen it in writing.
as zx says there is a procedure for filling vacant duties.

Your rep sounds like a load of crap (but arnt they all) he could of easily answered that for you . unfortunately countrysider that's what happens its called seniority unfortunately

if you've been displaced, as you were when your duty went, the displaced individual gets 1st pick of any vacancy.

I don't know if things have changed,but it used to be the case that according to MTSF surplus staff we're govern priority regarding any vacancies.

I cant see anywhere in the MTSF that says that, also i dont think the MTSF agreement would apply anyway, his first move to the duty in the office was unofficial anyway and wasnt put up for signing and thats the one the started the chain of events off

It would depend on whether he was surplus when his original duty was ceased.
