Noticed that this is the date when collection times seem to be being scrapped for postboxes, is this the date when we will be emptying boxes on a daily basis as well as delivering the Mail ? Not heard anything at my office but I wouldn't be surprised.

Heard nothing yet.
But it's usually late November before they realise Christmas is in December, so no need to panic yet.

I'm sure I've read somewhere that for two weeks from the 15th Sept the new and original collections will be run together to ease the swap over. So if the collections seem light that will be the reason

when the planners turn up, they have a specific time span to complete the process. about 10 weeks on average from what ive seen.

this should only be happening when you have sat down with your dom, gone through the boxes that have been listed to be emptied on a duty...i believe that boxes that have been counted and have less than 50 letters in them are included but also there has to be a box within half a mile with a later collection...if you feel the figures are wrong...challenge it.....

also i believe that each delivery office has been given a date when this will be looked at, so it could be within the next couple of weeks or well into next year...

I am trying all these arguments, but things are moving at such a pace now it is hard to slow things down. September 5th is a date when planners are supposed to send the details of boxes confirmed to move to dly to their superiors . guidance from hq has been sketchy to say the least. now theres a change.

Apparently whoever empties the box will have had a form to record the amount of letters on a semi regular basis over the last few years, rather than specifically for this revision.

No one in our collection hub has been given any forms to count mail, we are having 154 boxes taken off our duties, no one is sure quite how our duties are going to be restructured, but apparently all the mail we collect after the revision, instead of being collected by 3 x 600s from our unit, we will now have to take to another DO (at least 45 minutes each way in rush hour traffic) and be expected to carry out UTR work as well, its all well and good taking boxes off, but what about the late firm collections which are remaining the same, and yet some how we have to find 90 minutes of extra driving time - maybe we are being given a Tardis so we can time travel I can see it being a massive cock up with loads of excess O/T being claimed simply from being stuck in traffic, no doubt the planners will test the route at 3 am on a Sunday morning and say it can be done no problem.

No even sure what the procedure for cutting off on a collection is as quite frankly it simply has never happened in our office, we've always had ample time to carry out the work even at Xmas.

firstly you sit down with dom, if you feel that some boxes shouldnt be on the list you question it, when this is agreed between the two of you, you let the planners know what is coming off the list, then when the planners come in you go through who and how the boxes are going to be covered....

I'm sure there there won't many assigned boxes that will have sudden, mysterious increases in mail to >50 daily after the changes kick in.
