Unpaid Overtime

Would like to know where I stand on this one. I'm a part timer on 30 hour contract. I was on a duty last week that was prepped for me for four days, I was asked to cover this prep on overtime, I obliged, I filled my docket in at 1hr 15 a day. Got my payslip yesterday and I've only being paid for 2.5 hours of overtime. Manager wasn't in today, but I was told by his deputy that this was due to the job only being 27.5hour. This was not made clear to me when I was asked to cover the prep. I've also done the job countless times in the past without covering the prep yet still got paid for 30hour. So, in short, am I entitled to this overtime? It should be stated the only day i finished early was on Tuesday, rest of the week I finished within 10mins of my actual finish time.

Did you not get a manager to sign your o/t docket for 1hr 15 mins at the end of your shift each day and if so this is not a problem as it has been authorised.

If you didn't go over your time, and you didn't have prior agreement which was witnessed or written down with your dom, you don't have a leg to stand on unfortunately

Next time get him to confirm how many hours he will pay before you do the duty

The OT was for morning prep, prior to delivery.. He has a leg to stand on.

But he completed the overtime work within his normal duty hours without going over, and had no prior agreement with his dom that he would be paid for those hours, so exactly where is his leg to stand on?

you GET paid for the overtime
if u don't get paid you take them to an et for unlawful deduction of wages.

He completed the extra work within his already paid hours, going to get no where in an employment tribunal

So did you come in early to do the prep above and beyond your contract hours - if so you have a claim.

If you came in at your contract time and finished either before or at your contracted time - sorry you have no claim as you performed no overtime.

BTW - the 27.5 hour duty and your 30 hour duty are red-herrings and have no bearing on your overtime, unless you start before your contracted hours, or finish after.

They may ask you to do other tasks to cover the 2.5 hours difference , but you won't be paid overtime for them unless - it takes you over your own contracted hours.
