Anyone on here work in a DO that shares the O/T out fairly? If so, what sort of system do they use to do it?
Im getting fed up now of only picking up the odd line here and there. Sometimes mop up the lapse that doesn't get taken out, if im lucky. But I see the same faces day in day out getting O/T all of the time, both indoor and outdoor. Its got to the point now that im considering approaching the union rep and causing a stink about it. As a 24 hour contract postie, I rely on O/T to make my hours up. Up until about 4 months ago, I was regularly getting 40 - 50 hours in. Since then, Dims overstaffed the office with an extra 10 part timers.

Doms probably done that because duties werent getting covered, happened a while back in our office, not enough people wanted the OT so they just employed more people in the end.
As for your solution, theres no other way than to approach the union rep and complain, or even a manager, it seems like youre keeping quiet about it till this point, and nothing will change until you say something. Everyone should have the same opportunity for overtime.

The only relatively fair way of doing overtime is an aggregate hour system. Those who've done the least amount of it so far in a year get the first crack.
Even then, people get screwed (though through no one's fault.) If you do your duty when all the overtime is available, because of the natural work flow through an office, you lose out. Still, you should talk to your rep about it.

Re: Sharing O/T out equally
In our office it's usually the same group of 3-4 full-timers that get offered OT, a couple regularly do 60hr weeks. The only time they ask anyone else to work OT is to work their day off. This might be OK for a full-timer but for a part-timer, if I work my day off I'll be exhausted all week and get about £30 after tax, just not worth it to be honest.
