So this is causing a ruckus in our DO. Many of us are out to, if not over our time, with lapsing almost everyday and we are now being told that delivery to neighbours MUST be attempted. There has already been managers out 'patrolling' to enforce this. How is it possible, when we have already had a revision with the duty span agreed and the call rate adjusted as such to then expect us to make the time out of nowhere to trapse back down the path and attempt the neighbours EVERY time? Its just not feasible. After all we were told it takes no more than 1 minute to deliver a parcel and that time is built in. Surely thats then at least double if attempting neighbours. Double time NOT built in. Furthermore, what happens when the inevitable strikes and a few parcels go missing due to being left with unsavourys? After all nowadays you can have more than 2 postmen on a walk in any given week and there is next to zero local knowledge for anyone while doing the lapsing areas. Oh of course they come to us.
They are trotting the line out that it has been agreed with the CWU and while I do remember the CWU agreeing that delivery to neighbours CAN be attempted I don't understand why they would agree to it as a mandatory standard. Unless of course they are under the illusion that our walks would be shortened to compensate
Managers just look at us and roll their eyes as if we are lazy and we have bags of time but little by little they are introducing more and more things to do that we didn't have to this time last year after the revision had been put in place.
