RE: MR JOHN BALDWIN - HEAD OF INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS

It is with the greatest of sadness I write to inform branches that John Baldwin, Head of International Affairs, died peacefully in his sleep last night after a brief period of illness.

Many branch officers and activists will know that John has been a national officer and senior advisor in the union since 1986 and was previously a branch officer in the Reading Amal Branch - now South East No.5.

At this sad time our thoughts are with John's family and friends. I have on behalf of the CWU conveyed our deepest sympathy and condolences to them.

When further information becomes available regarding arrangements, branches will be informed.

Dear Colleagues

John Baldwin, Head of International Affairs - Funeral Arrangements

I am writing further to LTB 455/14, which notified branches of the sad passing of John Baldwin, CWU Head of International Affairs.

We have been advised that the funeral will take place next week and that this will be a strictly private event for the family and invited close friends.

The union will be holding a separate memorial service for John so that we can celebrate and pay tribute to the huge contribution he made to the union and his work internationally within UNI and the wider labour movement. Branches will be advised of this event in due course.

We appreciate that many of John's friends and colleagues will be disappointed not to be able to attend but we must respect the wishes of John's family at this very difficult time for them.
