I know it sounds a thick question but ive just been made permanent, TNT are sniffing around the corner and the other lad who started a week after me was told he will have to stay on a temp contract for the forseeable future. We have both been employed a year.
The only plus I can think of going onto a permanent contract is that your not wondering if your going to get a new contract when the current one expires. Does it really improve your job security? I dont think so.

Given that up till now the job losses have been managed without recourse to compulsory redundancies, having a permanent contract does offer you some protection as any reduction in staffing in your office will be managed by getting rid of FTCs and then by VR.hewittinspain wrote: Does it really improve your job security? If/when we move into the realm of compulsory redundancies it will be a different scenario.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
