Hi

If a WTL session lasts less than 30 minutes, are we officially entitled to stay off the floor for the remaining time?

Even our Rep is vague about this.

No, your 318 includes the wording of "as directed" or words to that effect, if you are regularly getting less than the 30 minutes get the rep to raise a disagreement, if its only very occasionally lasting less than 30 minutes due to not enough content not much you can really complain about

Many of our staff have their meal break while at these WTL sessions....scoffing and watching RM videos at the same time...sheer bliss!!

I was always led to believe that a WTL session was required for Managers to Tick one of the boxes on their Bonus Requirements?

As mentioned if you're not sitting in a WTL session then you've got more time to Deliver/Lapse. As for the WTL finishing early....there always seems someone needing to discuss some problem or other.....which seems to drag on because he can't get any clarification on the matter.

The usual "Runners" & "Corner Cutters" are normally champing at the bit to be out of the door and back to their frames. However I often find some useful points can be put across during these sessions, and they're one of the few times MOST Posties are in one room and can get a true indication of the general consensus. Too often Managers Divide and Rule with the old, "Well everyone else thinks it's a good idea" routine. I know many Offices won't allow the Union Rep to hold meetings in Business Time/Premises so it's the chance for a get together. A major concern is that these WTL sessions normally occur early, BEFORE many Part-Time Posties clock on. Could this be the reason so many decisions appear to be made in favour of a few vocal Full Timers to the detriment of many Part Timers?

So when the Manager tells you "1) Everyone's agreed on a fixed day off......yours is Tuesday 2) We've cut your overtime because we've had to put more indoor hours onto some Full Time duties 3) Some people have to come in later.....So You can start at 0900 4) I've put the leave rosta up you can have any of the weeks that are left....in October"!

You now know where those decisions were made Dave! Plus you're dipping out on a half hour tea break

Same here. I went into the office early once (to use the toilet) and was told to report to the meeting. OK I say, as soon as I start. What do you mean? Well, I don't start for 35 mins, I'm just popping to the loo if it's OK with you.

I can only assume that the matters dealt with don't concern me, as the manager obviously knows my start time. He could have the meeting later, but a load of full timers would miss out, as they have left the building.

Erm - we used to get 30 mins off the floor/ sit down time.

Honestly can't remember the last Work Time Lying session we had. I reckon we get about 2 a year that happen before us part-timers start work
