duty swap

hi im hoping someone will be able to help me my manager called me in to the office 1 week before xmas 2013 and got asked if i would swap my duty i said no then throught out the day i was asked and asked and asked again until i gave in and accepted the change i was not happy about this but they pressure you until i say yes we are now 29/03/2014 and i will be moved bk on to my original duty but i have not been told this by anyone i found out from the other person on they will be putting on the duty he told me on the 29/03/2014 which is a saturday i have not been aproched by any manager to explain i will be moving dutys which im very annoyed about i need at least 24 hours notice of a duty change as i have to plan my childcare out which i cant do as its the weekend im just not sure what my rights are on this (if i have any that is ) they are making it very hard for me to work i been there 4 years now and have my own duty until they swapped me i need to be on the round im on now ive told them this the last time they moved me if any one can help that would be great ive checked my contract and it says

HOURS OF WORK 9.1
your hours of work will be allocated to you by your manager however these hours may change from time to time after giving you reasonable notice

i need to know if 15 mins notice is acceptable as i get to work 15 mins before my shift starts

If you need your rest day next week then just tell them you can go on the duty but due to childcare you need to take the rest day you was originally expecting.

hi thanks for the reply its not the rest day thats the issue its them swapping me and putting me on a diffrent round withour notice i need to find out what the legal notice is eg. 24 hours ect

they can change your duty for operational reasons at any time, it shouldnt affect your hours of attendance though your start time should still be the same just you will be on a different duty, just work to your contracted finish time and cut off if you dont want to work over

what difference does it make to your child care plans if your on a different duty?

hi thanks for the reply my daughter has a sever blood disorder and the school often call us to collect my daughter as she gets very unwell tired and very sick so i have to collect her and take her to my wifes nans which she lives on the post round im on currently (not my own round) ive spoken to my managers about this as i have to break off and collect my daughter the round im on its a 5 min walk to the school and the drop off is on my round

my own round is a 45 min walk as i dont drive and then drop off and walk back or catch the bus i know that the busseniss comes first andhave to accept changes but this only happens to a few of us not the overtime lads as i say i have no problem changing rounds but i need the correct notice as i have to arrange for someone to collect her if im to far away and 9times out of 10 our famiy members are working except my wifes nan whos 90 and cant go rushing up to the school as she is disabled

in that case i would just simply hit him with the threat of taking dependancy leave, though it probably would be unpaid, you are legally entitled to take it without notice to your dom, you would simply stop what your doing mid round, make sure the mail is secure and then go and sort things out for your daughter and then if time permits come back and finish at your normal start time, dont work a second over, also you only need to notify your DOM when possible, so if you only get the chance to do that after you sort things out for your daughter so be it and also he cannot give you any grief over it as its a statutory right
