It's odd then that the less active generations use a trolley for golf and shopping when carrying the weight on the shoulder is less demanding

I was off work for a few months due to a prolapsed disk at the bottom of my spine.This was because I carried too heavy a bag to save time.I am glad with p&l to use the lwt to avoid my back going again.Try to park at the top of a hill,go down one side when the lwt is heavy so that when you come back up, you have lost half the weight and pulling the lwt is easier.Park the lwt before the top of a hill and carry a big bundle up,cross over and come back to the lwt (make sure you can see the lwt).Do some big packets from the van on the heavy days.Manage your workload to make the job easier for you.There are health and safety guidelines for using trolleys on hills.Speak to your union rep and your manager if you still have problems.
