Can I claim the mileage / travel time for First -Aid course?

Hi everyone,

I have a First-Aid course at a Mail Centre about 50 miles from where I live on Mon, Tue and Wed. My DO is only about 10 miles away from where I live, so a 40 mile difference.

Can I claim the fuel? If so, can I claim 50 miles each way, or only 40 because I would be driving 10 to the DO anyway?

What if I decided to take the train - would I be able to get Royal Mail to reimburse the cost of the train tickets?

Also, can I claim the travel time (it'll take about an hour each way), or can I only claim the time from when I arrive till when I leave the MC?

Your DOM will enter your mileage online if you write it down and sign it and you get it the following week like O/T, and yes you do get paid for the hours (including excess travel time) as it's part of your duties.

you get the 40 miles as you would do the first 10 miles anyway,, or you could get the train ,, i would do the driving myself ,, the last time i done a first aid course i was 50 miles from the office it was in ,, i lived 1 mile from my DO ,, i made out like a bandit £40 for about £10 worth of petrol and travelling time as well ,, i got 2 hours a day
