a colleague of mine has asked me to post with her problem.
she was on a 4-day contract prior to the revision and new methods being introduced. once they came in she was told there was no scope for 4-day contracts and that she would have to go full-time on a 5-day contract. she actually went onto the 6-day rest week system but that is by the by. anyhow, she wasn't happy with this situation as she was happy on her 4-day contract and never wanted to change. she hasn't ever signed anything although she has now been working 6 day weeks (with a week off, of course) for a few months. also, she had a week off last month and was told that where she had to use 2 more days of her annual leave as she was now working on a 6-day week, as opposed to when she booked the week earlier in the year at a time when she was only on a 4-day week. can they make her change her contract against her will? and should she have had to use those 2 extra days annual leave even though she booked it when she was on the 4-day contract? thanks in advance.

Re: 4-day contract
they cant change her contract against her will but i think she would be hard pushed to get it changed back now, she should get the rep to try and sort it, or get onto the area rep if he cantjbbicker wrote:a colleague of mine has asked me to post with her problem.

as for the holidays, whats happening is correct, on a 4 day week she got 4/5 of the holiday entitlement in days, so 18.4 days + plus bank holidays, she now has more as she is on full 5 day week entitlement ie 23 days + plus bank holidays, she isnt using any "extra" days to take a week off,
