why would you vote yes

Post by bigal383 »

all you plonkers on here who are saying u will vote yesin this forthcomming deal might want to look at the small print of the no strike deal.

what if we cannot strike anymore once 2019 comes we will all be sitting targets huge cuts and a large pay decrease. we are going to take the carrot they are dangling for and then when 2019 comes they can do as we please and we wont have a leg to stand on.

why would people vote yes to this?? sounds ideal at the moment taking a wage increase and getting this back pay but 2019 comes you will allbe regretting it when were all strugglng to pay our bills

Come 2019 they will do whatever they want with us....whether we vote yes or no....enjoy the next five years...because after that perhaps things will never be the same again.

at that point in 2019, when the agreement has run out and RM are "able to take those actions" we are also able to "strike again then"

I will be voting yes because I don't believe there is snowballs chance in hell of getting a significantly improved deal.
If we get as far as 2019 with no major changes to terms and conditions we have got a good deal. More importantly if there is a no vote there is a good chance that the union will be weakened so badly that they will become totally ineffective and that is playing right into the hands of a privatised Royal Mail. TNT will be delivering mail in all the profitable areas soon and RM may be forced to start charging VAT so that's a 20 percent hike that could see less mail.. personally I hope I still have a job in 2017 let alone 2019. So as much as it may hurt my tick is going in the yes box.

2017, 2019 are irrelevant. 2014 will be the year that they will begin to turn the screw in respect of savings, working ALL contracted hours, reducing overtime, flexibility. All those things that are part of past and present agreements that a privatised company will milk in order to maximise profits. If this agreement is ratified, I cannot see it lasting twelve months without conflict between the employer and the employed.

The agreement on protections has no end date,It doesn't "run out".2019 is just the first review date.
As long as RM keep the basic protections in place the agreement not to take national industrial action stays in place...potentially forever.

Many are missing the point with the "no strike" deal, It doesn't really affect what's protected within the agreement since if the protections are removed unilaterally by Royal Mail there will be nothing really holding the no strike agreement in place.

The real danger is what happens outside those protections, what happens with the "growth" strategy, what happens with pay in 2016 and beyond and of course what happens in delivery.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Agreed - but won't this happen anyway, irrespective of how we vote?

Then those areas that have implemented TWF, P&M and BT2010 won't really have anything to fear.
Those areas that don't work all their paid hours are in for a bit of a shock - it isn't the end of the world though.
And what with them being "strong" areas they won't have any qualms about taking local industrial action when they don't want to abide by national agreements.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
