Sounds familiar. Sinking under the quantity of items, not enough staff and too many customers - but we do love parcels.human1 wrote:About 1400 items logged in.... one person in early shift ( start at 6.30 am ) and two on late ( till 7.30 pm) serving 400 + customrs a day.![]()

Re: How is your Callers office doing ?
Ours is referred to as the Customer Service Centre. Just like the Super Delivery Centre at the rear, it serves a region 5 times the size our old Callers' office handled.
The opening hours have extended too, it's now 7am to 6pm.
Customers have to travel, typically, up to 15-20 miles nowadays, rather than the previous 2-3 miles. However, since every item is now bar-coded the whole process is very quickly completed.
Upon arrival customers scan the printed barcodes on their "something for you" card(s) into the computerised customer care terminals which informs them of the current wait time for their packages.
Our Customer Care Assistants are of course on hand to guide them through the process if help is needed.
Upstairs our team are busy picking the parcels in a secure area using their Hand Held Terminals which inform them of the location and time allowed to retrieve each item.
Meanwhile, the customer is likely either making use of the refreshment facilities, else sitting comfortably in the climate controlled waiting lounge watching 'RMTV for Customers'.
RMTV today is educating them on how best to avoid incurring postal surcharges, showing them the latest sets of stamps available for purchase on today's visit, along with adverts for Dominoes Pizzas.
When the parcels have traveled down the conveyor from above and are ready for collection, one of our cheery Customer Care Assistants calls the customer over and any signatures, payments, purchases, etc are taken care of.
All the time, the DOM is sat in his office drinking coffee and stuffing meat pies down his neck; it's nice to know some things haven't changed.

Re: How is your Callers office doing ?
When our DO was sold-off and we were shunted 20 mins drive away our Enquiry Counter/ Callers Office was moved downstairs into the Central Post Office..
And as Doorstepping is a BIG NoNo (and possibly in a fit of pique.. Really? Yes,Really! At Our Discretion innit..) the majority of the Delivery staff P739 anything and everything.
Meantime, because of Staff and Security issues the PO Counters have to maintain their regular Opening Hours..
and 'Docket Left' Items are only available for collection from 10am the next Working Day..
So, in answer to your question - Not Well.

Re: How is your Callers office doing ?
That sounds like a really good system, much better than ours although the opening hours are the same. I would predict that yours will become the blueprint for the Agenda for growth. Small and medium offices will be the target and will become "Super Delivery Offices" where underpants and knickers are worn over the pants and the DOM has a supersize coffee.freelunch wrote:Ours is referred to as the Customer Service Centre. Re: How is your Callers office doing ?
Ours was extremely busy today....folk queuing up round the building....customer unable to find parking spaces on our premises due to folk who live nearby and x'mas shoppers...(apparently our previous gaffer said there was nothing they could do)....lots of items still not back (despite being posted back on the 18 th or even sooner)..quite a few frustrated folk...venting their feelings to anyone working in box counter today....still got the usual problem of 739 cards not being filled out correctly...we had one today ..no address on it....no date...no name....just said collect on Monday(or something like it).....I was only in there for an hour or two as I was also double prepping...so was rushed off my feet but the gaffer wanted me to do what I could for the two staff members in there who looked stressed....I have learnt that running around like a headless chicken achieves nothing....a nice steady pace...spend so long looking for an item...be polite...(no matter what you are faced with)....and keep smiling....(easier said than done)....we have packets in the canteen...(as well as planners)...in the corridors....as for the callers office itself..
.....to be honest our office is smack in the middle of town...and busy all year round....but the last few days have been mental...Merry X'mas folks.

Re: How is your Callers office doing ?
Got a phone call today (my day off) asking about a shut notice from yesterday that they're struggling to find. Dunno what they want me to say, I always write a description on the P739 anyway.

Re: How is your Callers office doing ?
If card is filled correctley and item has been logged properly..... we can serve a customer with in a minute and we hold average just over 1000 items in our enquiry/callers office. We held less items than last year.
