Ten years and still part time!

I've worked for Royal Mail now for ten years and have always wanted more hours than my 32.5 hour contract. People have transferred into my office on 39 hour contracts yet there has never been a full time vacancy advertised internally. How does another office know a full time job is availe at my office if the people in my office don't? I feel I've been lied to and conned by a succession of mangers and my union rep is about as helpful as a manager. Has anyone other offices/people had a similar issue/problem?

It's not what you know it's who you know. We've had saturday contract people for over two years. The area managers wife turned up and within a month she had a full time contract!

it took me 13 years to be made up to full time hours, got bypassed so many times it was unreral.

think yourself lucky I started in 1995 and got made fulltime 2011

Thats disgraceful there should be a rule if you work ten years then you should have the option of going fulltime as a reward for the years of loyal service.
