New lobbying bill: Keep trade union data private

You will have probably heard about the Government's controversial Lobbying Bill, referred to by many as the Gagging Bill. But do you know the bit where they want to see details of your previously confidential union membership? A petition launched by the TUC exposes the risks to privacy this bill represents and asks everyone who values their privacy to sign the petition. "While none of us are ashamed to be union members and have nothing to hide, we should look at what's happened with blacklisting - a scandal of which the full scope is just becoming clear. Giving employers and the government even more access to our sensitive personal data should be challenged," stressed Tony Kearns.
