Re: Annual leave
Just wish we were able to get the days we want.
Holiday booking for year 2014/15 almost fully booked up already and most of us still have over 10 days left to book yet. Availability is so low its fully booked till January 2015.
Hopefully the mdec will still be here then lol.

Re: Annual leave
You can carry up to 5 days over into next years leave.
The rest should be taken or lost.
But, special dispensation can be given for more to be carried over.

Re: Annual leave
I haven't seen anywhere where it says you would lose any annual leave over 5 days if carried forward.
If requests for annual leave are being denied, then use the grievance procedure

Annual leave should generally be taken in the year that it is due, and the business expects all employees to have at least four weeks away from work every year. However up to one week (or 5 odd days) may be carried over into the next leave year, and up to five days may be anticipated during the last month of the previous leave year. Transfer of leave in excess of these limits requires written permission from the line manager, except that leave that cannot be taken due to sick leave may be allowed in the following year. Where this is granted and would reduce the annual leave taken in a particular leave year to less than four weeks, the individual must also confirm in writing that they are willing to voluntarily forgo their statutory leave entitlement under the Working Time Regulations 1998.

Are you sure you mean accrued.
Accrued leave is leave earned by the amount of time employed and is usually only applicable when leaving employment.
For instance if you are entitled to 4 weeks leave in one year, but hand your notice in after 6 months then you have accrued only 2 weeks leave. If you have taken more then you owe your employer, if you have taken less then they can either pay you the outstanding amount, or insist you take it before you go.

Re: Annual leave
Clash is right, you don't lose annual leave if you have more than 5 days to carry over, you just shouldn't have more than 5 days to carry over unless it's due to sick absence and making sure that you don't is management's responsibility.
If you pick it and management refuse to honour it then raise a grievance and inform your rep/branch.
If management tell you there is no leave available raise a grievance and inform your rep/branch.
If for some strange reason you refuse to pick it management should allocate it.

I would quote the way forward agreement to your DOM as obviously he is not following it for leave selection :
The Way Forward Agreement wrote:The leave year will be April to March. The Christmas pressure period, determined by the operational unit, will be a closed period for leave. The selection process should be complete by the end of the preceding October each year.

Re: Annual leave
Can't see us getting our annual leave forms back this year will probably have to wait till in the new year then will still have four weeks to try and fit in, all the dom says is that he hasn't got time, and union rep as resigned so cant see anyway forward.
