Sick Leave Policy

Can anyone tell me where I can view the company policies and procedures. I really want to see the sickness policy. I have worked at Royal Mail for 9 months and am now on a permanent contract. On Monday I had my first ever day off sick and called in before I was due on shift. I am not due in again until tomorrow and am due in on Saturday too. I called the office again Tuesday to keep them informed and phoned them today to say I would be at work tomorrow. When I received my payslip today I have not been paid anything for this week at all, only receiving tax back and last weeks overtime. This cannot be right, surely I should only have had 1 days pay deducted. This is only 1 of a long line of issues with the office I work out of. I have submitted holiday requests on 3 separate occasions and have had none of them granted, only being told they were not authorised on the Friday before the week the holiday was due. This is causing me no end of trouble with my wife who has had to either take a week off alone or cancel her time off. We have not had a holiday this year because of this. Surely I am entitled to holiday. I am disgusted at the treatment I am receiving as they seem to breach lots of employment laws and be getting away with it. My wife is a manager in the NHS and therefore knows about policies relating to HR matters. Any advise would be appreciated.

The PSP system pulls the information for wages off on a Tuesday around 12 o'clock, as you have not worked for Royal Mail for 1 year you receive no sick pay ( you do after 1 year)

If the PSP system was still showing you sick Tuesday then it assumes you will be sick all week as it was an open absence ie no end date - hence no pay - if you had rung in Monday/Tuesday and given a return date the PSP could have been updated in time for wages - as you didn't the system will only be updated when you return or when you informed them you would return - then the absence is closed and the system knows you were not sick all week

The system will catch up next week and you will get any money owed

I know this as it has happened several times in my office and this is the explanation wages gave me
