National Dispute - Joint Statement 30th October 2013

30th October 2013

0
Royal Mail and CWU have made progress in talks and commit to finalising an agreement in the next two weeks which will include the following:-

1. Legal protections for employees that extend beyond the current three year offer.

2. An improved pay and reward offer.

3. A separate pensions agreement.

4. An agenda for growth underpinned by a culture of consensual change, timely decision making and industrial stability supported by alternative dispute resolution processes.

5. An agreed approach to aligning resourcing to workload with a resolution to any current workload and resourcing issues.

6. An overview of the future parcels and letters strategy.

7. A joint company/CWU charter shaping the ongoing values and principles of the Royal Mail Group.

8. An ongoing operational programme of work.

9. The individual elements outlined above will only be deemed agreed when everything is agreed.
On the basis of the aforementioned CWU agree to stand down the 24 hour strike planned for the 4th November.

Royal Mail agree to extend the legal validity of the current industrial action ballot until 20th November

Both parties will clear diaries to ensure all our efforts are focused on reaching an agreement by the 13th November.

Is No 4 what Moya was trying to add into any agreement, which in her eyes included non strike action.

Yeah No 4 looks like the no strike deal Royal Mail wanted.

The strike on Monday has been called off.
The ballot is still valid until Nov 20th so a strike could still be called up until Nov 13th if no progress is made.

Please tell me the union isn't this naive? It is an obvious delaying tactic to push the calendar on closer to Christmas, so as people will be more reluctant to strike. The union negotiators are being played yet again.

1 to 4 are what's important. The rest - while also as important - look like they've been relegated to "blah blah blah... we'll figure something out later, if at all."

And I'll never vote for a no-strike deal.

Is the rally off as well then?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Thats exactly what she wants ! Once we're tied into a no strike deal, local managers will start twisting the deal for their own ends and we won't be able to do anything about it.
Royal Mail agree to extend the legal validity of the current industrial action ballot until 20th November
We had that carrot dangled last time, extended strike mandate while talks resumed, only to find out that it not legally valid after-all !

Another "Deal of the Century" anyone ? :Sick

The devil is in the detail, but a round of applause if our demands have been won by our negotiators
