Do we know if any meetings have been arranged between the union and management, also what do you think we should settle for in any agreement I.e 2.8% in the first years pay award or more and what about terms and conditions 5, 7, 10, years what is acceptable, also a no strike deal is not acceptable in my books but where do you draw the line on compromise any views

no compromise on a no strike deal is a must.
the pay deal is not the problem as i think we have had a result.
the terms and conditions should be over 5 years with talks to start to extend for another 3 years.
also overtime ban and work to rule to be voted on,also a vote of no confidence on moya greed.

The general consensus from my colleagues is that a 5 year protection deal on T&C@s would be acceptable, my view is that this is eminently achievable, the 10 years originally demanded is not going to happen, we have to be realistic, but 5 years is the minimum I would accept.

heard a manager the other day saying there close to a 7 year agreement and just needing to tie up the pension deal and work load agreement

I don't see a problem with a no strike clause, if the agreement is water tight, & legally binding by both parties for the duration of the agreement. If broken by RM with executive action etc, then agreement is null & void, & clause terminates.

(For what it's worth...) The Financial Times last week said that talks were scheduled for this week.

I'd be very surprised if there wasn't talks going on even now, RM couldn't spin a 'no talks at all' policy in anything that looks like they're not just spoiling for a fight.

My personal opinion is there will be a better agreement but I don't know if it'll be before the first strike (and it really depends on how well supported the strike is).

What does a statement like "1 in 4 Saturdays for the majority of staff(including reserves)" mean to you and what has it meant to Royal Mail?
There are many ways to break the spirit of an agreement without breaking the words and if we agree some kind of "no strike" deal going on past experience we will pay the price.
