tried selling some shares today I purchased,but guess what I could not because I haven't received my key account number,what a con.anybody else suffered the same fate as me,also the gen public got 227 shares for £750,but we got our shares at a cheaper cost of £500,anyone know how many shares we get for the £500,no idiot answers please.

I didn't buy any, but surely you must have been told how many shares you'd receive for your investment beforehand? Otherwise, who's to say you don't get just 1 share for your £500?

somebody said at work they don't no how many shares hes got , cause he would have sold today at 4.89 , and you should get a certificate on Monday 21st oct , it could be a ploy . another great idea by the powers about.

If the gen pub got 227 shares, that's how many you should receive, but obviously for £500 as bought at staff discount.

They were not discounted for staff. The minimum amount to be bought was reduced to £500 as opposed to £750 for the general public. £500 would have bought 151 shares at the opening price of £3.30.

Bet you're glad you never sold them today. They finished the day at 489.5p at close. If you had of been able to sell earlier you wouldn't have got that much.

You will get the same number of shares regardless of their price (in your free allocation) If the value of the number of shares you are given exceeds £3000 then a proportion of the shares will be held in trust and given to you in the next financial year.
If you bought shares through EPO you will get the amount you paid £xxxx divided by £3.30 Regardless of the price they are trading at when you receive your email/certificate.

No Idiot answers.

£500 gets you 151 shares
£750 gets you 227 shares

Just divide the amount you spent on shares by £3.30

* We were not offered a discounted price - what with being given free shares already...
** You could have bought as much as £10,000 and would have got them all as we had priority

What is left of the amount above £3000 (limit for a year on SIP) will be distributed next April 2014 (start of financial year)

*** If you had bought through the government website via Equiniti - you should have received email confirmation of number of shares and reference number. Email also tells you how to sell - Call 0845 2688405 to sell all the shares for £7.50. There are others way of selling but have to register or use the post and you could sell some and keep some.

**** What happens to the shares of those that leave - I do not know. But they will make a nice bonus shares for the CEO and other big wigs and perhaps if there are so much of them and they are feeling generous in 5 years time - they might give posties more shares as they have done presently.

***** Posties will get confirmation soon of their allocation. They have only just worked things out. It is not simple mathematics - because it is based on hours worked and based on qualifying period of employment...

Lastly, the high share price is a bit of bummer in terms of paying tax on selling the shares in years 3 - 5 but after that it is just whatever the price is at the time. It is unlikely going to be above £4.00 in 5 years time. But the they are Free and we would have received dividends.

If price is £4.89 - unlikely that the close price is the same as mid price then values of shares is ab £3256.74

Either way, it is more than the £3000 limit an employer is allowed to give for shares in the Share Incentive Plan

It's already been announced at 725 for FT staff. 613 this year, and 112 in April 2014. It's just short of £3500.00 for FT staff. (At 'current' prices).
