revision using a trolley!!

we have now had the revision and are using the dreaded trollies, we are also having the threat of dismissal hanging over our head if we are caught with a bag on our back..............BUT........talking to posties ive met from different areas, the rules seem to differ, e.g. linconshire i was told they have the trolley in the van but are only compelled to use it if the 'loops' bag exceeds the 11kg old bag weight.........is this pretty common practice, if so we are having our hat nailed on in our office!

I love using the trolley......slows me down, helps my joints......why would you not want to use it?

The only time you can't use it is if you are doing flats and if there is no footpath.....your loops should be set up for it.

Less than half a dozen people use them in our office, managers for obvious reasons aren't bothered.

My P&L partner and I split our bags down as much as necessary, I don't carry more than 2 bundles in a bag with one in hand. We deliver to a lot of flats where trolleys aren't any good so could only use them on a couple of loops anyway.

Having said that, there are still people in my office cramming 20+ kg into a bag because their partner is slow and they don't want to be waiting. The fact they can just do their loops, sit in the van and cut off doesn't seem to register.

Why anyone wants to break that agreement is beyond me.

I think it'd be harder to find people who stick to the agreement on delivery methods

Use your Trollies! They DO remove the strain from your neck, shoulders & back. Why would you want to carry a heavy bag....just to go a bit faster? Why? Do you need to "Carve" more time from your Duty just so your Manager can give you some more work?

It must have become apparent to everyone in your Office that the same job would take longer with the new methods. Just use them and either book the overtime or cut off.

I use a trolley every day. the best thing RM ever did for deliveries to bring them in, no more carrying heavy bags, two bags instead of one, can even rest a bundle or two on top of it, wouldn`t do the job without it these days.

well there are loads in the skip where i work for the scrap man no clue how much royal mail paid for them but they must have money to bern
