i knew the boss could me to work 30 mins over and then give the time back within the same given week ,to my shock he said hes telling me I have to work 30 mins over under some agreement ?? I thought it was a request and I could say no to working over ?finish on my time as always ....I am wrong or right ??

It is a request, you can say no, also its only supposed to be for unforseen circumstances, ie vehicle breakdown etc which delays mail getting to the office

it is entirely voluntary for you, if he insists that its compulsory ask him to put it in writing to you then take out a grievance against him

They are trying this one on a regular basis now in our office, with the twist being that if you don't work over for 30 minutes whenever required during the week, you will have to remain in the office until your official finish time on the Saturday, regardless of what time you finish your delivery. The sad thing is that their dirty little bribe is working wonders for them.

Variation of hours – Where necessary, for example when traffic
volumes are unexpectedly high or resourcing issues arise, individuals
may be asked and may themselves request to vary their duty times by
up to 30 minutes on a swings and roundabouts basis. Again, individual
circumstances will be taken into account and total weekly contractual

Immaterial (sp) ; You should remain in the office until your finish time. Or; you could , if you complete early go to the DOM / Lino and ask if they wish you to do anything else.

If not ; then you are free to go ( and dont be fooled by bogus claims of 'banked hours')

As to what time the DOM leaves. Why does it bother you? He/She is not paid by the hour ( as we are) ; they are paid by result (on a salary) . So why would you , I , or anyone else care what hours they do?

It really is not worth the angst
