Major milestone reached as the 1,000th delivery office revision is completed

More than 1,000 units now have their delivery method revisions up and running.

Several units rolled out their revisions at the same time earlier this month to reach the grand total.

This major milestone means the programme is not far from completion.

Richard Moor, head of delivery revision programme, says: ‘We’ve increased the pace significantly over recent months as we push to make sure all of our 1,356 units are completed by spring 2014. We’re now completing around 13 units a week.

‘As last year, the programme will pause for the Christmas peak, then restart in the New Year for the final push.’

The most obvious changes a revision brings are the shared vans, bringing new delivery routes with a new partner to work with, and trolleys replacing mailbags on the shoulder and cycles. These changes are driven by the need to keep our staff healthy and safe as the increase in parcels continues – taking their heavier weight off people’s shoulders, to reduce the risk of musculo-skeletal injuries.

Successful revisions

But to be a success, a revision is about much more than simply giving people new pieces of kit.

Richard says: ‘Revisions are most successful where staff and union reps have been part of the process from day one; where their ideas have been listened to and taken on board, where they understand why we are making the changes, and they feel part of it.

‘It’s feedback from staff affected by those revisions that prompted us to develop ideas such as our Big Picture, Outdoor Story and Indoor Story engagement programmes, which help staff see the reasons behind the changes well in advance and input into how they are implemented at their unit.

Mark Follows, delivery director, adds: ‘For people in Operations, this is a massive transformation programme.

‘We accept that it’s a lot of change for a lot of people. Staff engagement is the key. It’s working really well where engagement has been good; that means interaction between the planning team and the frontline staff. We need that frontline knowledge to help plan the new deliveries, and it makes a huge difference when people feel involved.’

I'll second the 'sick through the roof' comment. I have never known so many people off since our revision kicked in. One person who had nearly 15 years without one day off sick is now off long term with stress.

our's hadn't worked since it came in, most complete, most of the time but only due to having packets or parcels whatever they are called and tracked items taken off the duties.

2yrs on and i still refuse to sign the duties, 3rd set for us. I have no faith in the systems. If you do it correctly unless you run they cannot be achieved.

How many are doing the revision correctly? It's no good providing the kit he says and how right he is no bastards using it - I'll bet there's not 1 P&L team in my office using the LCTs..............so was that piece of kit a mistake?

We should complete our revision early next year. Having only recieved £200 of the £1000 promised for completing it. Think we have been shafted!

No what cracks me up about this why the f@@@ haven't you had your last payment ????????? I got mine as agreed when ours went in all money's were paid as promised , come on royal fail get a grip
