Hello, if you only want to work your contracted hours, how much notice do you have to give?

Haha well I'm only on a 20 hour contract, but I end up doing 35-40 which I don't mind but on Saturdays I want to only do my 4 hours as I have other commitments? My manager said I have to give more notice than 24 hours but didn't specify how long

I said to a manager the other week I only want to work my contracted hours tomorrow and she went mad and told me 24 hours is not enough notice and expects me to do the full round. I've only just heard about the union, shall I definitely join? Sounds like everyone else has

In my opinion YES.
Strange that they expect more than 24 hours notice for working your contracted hours, when they can't even give an hours notice of where you are working.
