Well finally I've had my delivery revised by the ' magical ' planner who can wave his wand and hey presto make everything hunky doory....What a joke !!
Whilst sat in his company you sit there and watch the loops on his laptop and when he asks what you think you tell him the obvious THERE TOO BIG he just makes a rough note and then files it in the " your a lazy bastard the computer is right " drawer.Virtually every walk that has been amended is a complete joke and the chances of finishing these deliveries are nil in the time given, my delivery has 600+ calls ( letters,packets,parcels,tracked,signed for's etc etc etc ) coupled with a delivery that has 580 calls the planner is saying that these two deliveries can be done in 6 hrs 25 mins !!!!!!!!! in old money that gives you about 3 hrs 10 mins per delivery NOT CHANCE OF COMPLETING.The worrying thing is when I asked my local Rep he wasn't arsed one little bit ..... cos he doesn't want to rock the boat cos he gets majority of the docket in the office

I and everyone else in our office have been saying the same thing at the moment its barely manageable but come September s**t will hit the fan.

It might just be that the extra resources needed will be put in.

This is the mentality of Royal Mail though.

They want 100BSI which unless my reading is wrong means they/expect want 100% efficiency, 100% accuracy, and 100% commitment 100% of the time. But then they staff at 95% and resource at 83% and wonder why everything falls apart when 127% of the expected traffic comes. What's worse is that at the planning stage the expect their computerised 100% effective plan to work in the real world as though the traffic magically parts à la the Red Sea, and that all the lights are green and all the parking spaces are free, and of course that 2 people of different ages and capability, delivering different amounts of mail to different streets will arrive back at the van within 1 minute of each other.

If General George Armstrong Custer ever planned a delivery this is what it would look like.

ive come to the conclusion Royal Mail management are INSANE..... they don't live in the real world, they live from a computer output,,, and have their heads buried into a computer screen.....

a bit like when someone is being brain washed looking at a computer screen with constant changing images on it...

I think you are being optimistic.
Your model traffic may be based on 100,000 items made up of 70,000 mech,20,000 manual and 10,000 packets.
One day it might be 50,000 mech,30,000 manual and 20,000 packets.
To most Royal Mail managers that's the same thing and requires the same resource.

If General George Armstrong Custer planned his last stand like this it would have saved a lot of lives because his own men would have shot him.

I think you are being optimistic.

A tad perhaps, but I felt the thrust of their posts ignored the whole model week thing.
And it makes a difference, perhaps not as much as we would like, but a difference nonetheless.

I really don't see how it is in anyone's best interest to have a failing revision.
In our area we currently have 3 managers suspended for false reporting.

not sure if your saying youve got a 6hrs 25 min park and loop delivery delivery or if that is the time it would take one person to deliver?The amount of calls your delivery has is less than most in my office and we get 4hrs 15min.Most of these deliveries are being completed although there has been major moving of goalposts regarding weight on shoulder and mail security and 90% start on average 40 mins early-apparently we are in the top 10%
