Saturday guarantee

Hi Guys. Right always been told that special delivery items on a Saturday only do not have to be there before 1300hours if you think you might not get there in time unless the customer has paid extra, a third extra on top of the normal price to be precise, at the post office. But now being told that they do have to be there by the DIM. So why are people who don't pay the extra for Saturday guarantee getting exactly the same service for people who do? Unless I am wrong I apologize. But its what I have always been told. If it is true, it's totally wrong that this should be the case. Anybody know any facts on this service. Thanks in advance

SG items have to be there by 1pm but a normal special which is in reality for Monday does not have to be there until 1pm Monday, so you can deliver it anytime on Saturday.

If a customer posts a Special Delivery on Friday but doesn't pay the SG premium, then there is no guarantee the item will be delivered on Saturday and no compensation will be due if it isn't delivered until the Monday.

If however the item progresses through the pipeline as usual and arrives in your DO on Saturday morning, if you don't scan it as delivered by 1pm then it will show up in the system as a failure.
This is a system failing, because no compensation would be due if it was delivered at 2pm but your DOM will have to explain why the SD failed.
The number crunchers up above him don't really care about the intricacies of the job, they simply have a failure in the system.

So if they need them delivered by 1pm, then deliver them by 1pm (or confirm them as delivered by 1pm which isn't the same thing).

It's a fault with the programming of the pda, miss a 1pm on a Saturday and it's a conduct code chat, so you have to break off to deliver an item even though the customer hasn't paid for this service!!!! Good system isn't it!

And how many specials does your office get on a Monday, ours gets very few seems to me all specials that are sent Friday just get an attempted delivery saturday whether or not they are Saturday guarantee.

As a Hybrid that's what i do any day of the week,as after lapsing i don't start my round until 1130+ so eats into my break if im going forwards and backwards to get them all done on time!

The only problem here is if the customer is at home periodically tracking the item themselves.

lucky if we get 30 postmanplod69
