Emergency Carers Leave entitlement

My Disabled Dad has had a fall, broken his hip plus other injuries. I need to see him, 200 miles away in hospital.
I was told I can have......"my Day off, and 1 Days Carers Leave". ( A total of 2 days including my day off...to travel a 400 mile round trip).
Any additional time off taken will be Annual Leave or Unpaid Leave.( I assume there maybe an additional ways to pay back hours off by working OT etc. I know someone in our sorting office who works OT regularly to take time off during the School Holidays to be with their child.)

So, is this the ONLY thing I am entitled to, ONE DAY?

Additionally, is this a "One Off Deal", as I need to sort him out once he leaves hospital in a few weeks or so, and may need to travel the 400 miles again.

Any Annual Leave I have left was penned in for a holiday later this year, the first for 4yrs, as we look after another Disabled relative regularly too.

I rang the CWU but they were at lunch, 12 - 2. Travelling to see him in hospital later today.
Thanks for any info, detail as to what Royal Mail seem suitable as Carers Leave etc.

i only managed to use my rights once when i needed to and got a day off.

think for longer spells its unpaid.

oh and it cant be a one off deal.

they are supposed to let you have the time off if you need it for caring.
just make sure your registered.
