I have recently started a 4 day week on 39 hrs starting at 05.25AM. On Mon, Tues and Sat our M/R's are at 08.40.
The rest of the office start at 07.55,07.40 and 07.50 respectively, is it right that we have to work 3 hrs+ before we get any sort of break and the rest of the office work less 1hr?

It's not right morally but it's not illegal, look at it this way, you don't have to work as long as the rest until you go home

To be honest, I don't understand what you point is. Would you really want a break at 6.25am? Then possibly having to work 7 hours or so without one?

Meal breaks are supposed to be as close to the middle of your working day as possible/viable. As I understand it, you are working 9.45 per day, and having your break at 3 hrs and 15 mins into you duty (which should be a 50 min break too, or 2 breaks of 20 + 30 mins), leaving you 5.40 to work until you finish.

It would be my argument that those having a break 1 hour after starting are being shafted, especially if they are FT staff, which would make it very wrong.

mine at a 34hr week is to start at 8.20 mon, 8.30 tues and break at 9, then go up to 2.40pm without a break

funny thing is, if everyone took their break, they'd be no room for most folk and now food & drink banned on shop floor??

....also managers and locker room staff are allowed food and drinks in their bits though.

I made that point to my manager when they told us we couldn't have drinks on our stations. It was never mentioned again....weird.
