The Union could do if you are still a member, or the CAB they were very good when my family had to start being a carer for an elderly parent.

Oh and moved to Blue Shirts - there is more traffic there than in the announcements area.

apply for dla disability living allowance and apply for esa employee support allowance [contribution based] which is £71.00 apply on phone to dwp all info can be obtained on line,hope this is helpful.ps you can also get in touch with your local council and apply for a poll tax reduction.

I got 6 mths JSA. After that nothing because my wife works full time.
Did you take your pension?
Cant say how the benefit system will affect you.

Initially, you will have to go to the Job Centre. They will advise you, with regard to E.S.A, But be warned, you will have to spend a good bit of your lump sum, before getting the full range, (Housing Benefit etc). As another poster said you could apply for other benefits, but D.L.A etc, are no longer available to new claimants--just the Personal Independance Payment, veryt difficult to get, unless very disabled.
Good luck though in your 'retirement' !

I'm due to leave RM next week through ihr..basically whilst you have had a lump sum pay off you'll be lucky to get anything. .best bet try and get some retraining with your money if possible. ...good luck

If you have too much money move them to oversea bank account (assuming it is allowed)

It wont be a great lump sum as ive only worked for royal mail for 6 yrs and being 52 I don't think I can claim my pension?

Would you think of going to university?, you can get loans that you dont have to pay back if you earn under £25000 after you leave and get a job, it works out a lot more then job seekers, Im thinking about it myself, have a look at the gov loan web site .https://www.gov.uk/student-finance/overview" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, could be a way out for you.
