Paternity Leave Help Needed

Hi, on Tuesday my twin sons were born premature and my paternity leave started on Tuesday. However, due to their being premature it's looking like a possibility that they will be in incubators for a couple of weeks. I hate the idea of my paternity leave ending before we've even got the kids home. Is my best course of action to go back to work and take the rest of my paternity when they get home? Is that even possible? Is there any option of extended leave? I'll go back now if I have to but I'm anxious to spend as much time as the hospital and with my wife as possible. Thanks.

I think the good news for you is that you can pick the time of your paternity leave, and they will need to be flexible due to the unpredictable nature and individual circumstances like yours.

And to supplement your paternity leave you can use parental leave, though this is completely unpaid

Ask your manager to print you off the guides, they are available off the PSP system. or if that doesn't work, call HR/personnel , the number is on the payslips

No once your paternity leave has started it cannot be split so if you return to work you lose what ever is left of your two weeks, you will be entitled to special leave though and if nice boss you may get it paid.
