1/6th Door2Doors A Day ???

Has there been a new agreement to prep all door2doors on a Monday for the whole week?

Judging by another post, it appears a directive has been sent out (again) telling DOMs they cannot return more than 1% of D2D.
Some it eems want to know exactly how many surplus D2D they will have on Monday, hence the requirement to prep them all.
I don't see how the resources could be made available to do this, or how leaving 5/6 in the frame would be a good idea.

I'm a day off cover and there is no way I'm throwing them all in for the duty holder. Saying that, more time in doors equates to less time outdoors so I'd probably volunteer to chuck the whole offices in..

Iirc 12 mins a days is given for the sixth.

Apparently the average for d2d for the past year was 2 items per week

Like you say, when 6-7 items need to be prepped on a 800 call walk............

That's almost 900 items for the 1/6 in 12 minutes......

90 items in 80 seconds,

9 items in 8 seconds.......

Are we having extra arms fitted to help us to prep these then?


At least we can ask a manager for training and guidance on meeting this standard



From my experience, to throw in 1/6th of 6 items on an average frame 560 calls takes 35 minutes.

Yeah less D2Ds would be great, pain in the arse anyway

The increase in packets will more than make up for the loss of door to doors and will (and already is) result in an increase in the delivery work load. This will result in a decline of the indoor working but a greater allowance in time will have to made for delivery. This much vaunted modernisation is addressing this by van sharing so that more packets and parcels can be taken out than can be carried.

So to sum up it will be : packets up, door to doors down and we will take out a larger volume of mail that people actually want. It should be a neutral affect on jobs though how they choose to address the full time / part time ratio is another question due to less indoor working needed.

But of course planners try to ignore this and our revision resulted in our rounds becoming too large and a massive rejig was needed.

To answer an earlier question i have another 5 years to go and the sad part is i joined a postal service and will leave a postal business.
