As a Delivery Postperson, you will start the day by accurately sorting the mail into your delivery route. The average delivery walk lasts approximately 3 and a half hours and each day you will have to deliver multiple bags (approximately 6-8 mailbags), which can each weigh up to 16kg. You will work in all weathers delivering the mail either on foot, by cycle or in a shared van.
Well Well, All over the country, this is how Royal Mail is advertising! What happened to the revision?

But if they were to update the ad it would be too complicated:

You might be working in a van but with a lightweight trolley, if they haven't all rusted out in the yard.
It'll be quicker if you do it with a bag anyway.
Or your partner might be using the van and we'll ask you to use your car even though you are not insured and if it all goes tits up you are on your own.
Car use is creeping in again because the packet counts were all wrong and it means you will never complete your duty in your contracted hours but don't expect us to increase your contract.
Anyway sometimes you'll still need to carry a bag for blocks of flats and stuff, and steep hills and other complicated geographical layouts that Georoute can't get its pretty little head around.
If you do carry a bag it shouldn't be more than 5kg/8kg/11kg - delete as appropriate for your area.
In some offices we have removed all the scales anyway so you won't really have a clue how much you are carrying until you go sick with a bad back (which will be your fault)
Or you might be using a HCT, though the planners still regard them as mobile pouch boxes and the walks are designed to be completed using a pouch even though weight off the shoulder is still our stated aim.
And then the trolley isn't big enough for all the mail and packets so you'll need to try and arrange pouch drops which usually involves standing around in the cold for anything up to 45 minutes waiting for a driver.
Some offices have still got bikes and no-one is really sure why.

Hi Stokes hope you are still enjoying your retirement.
Looks like they need to update their job advert but it's hardly surprising really as they are still using the Caxton printing press.
The trolley we have at ours are all unused lined up in the car park I look at them and sigh as they look like grave markers especially as they have the duty no on them.

Sure am enjoying my retirement! LOL!! busier that never, BUT--no no Royal mail! These jobs are beint advertised all over!
