BEING A RESERVE

Are reserves suppose to get the normal Saturday off that they should? Or being the dump of the office are managers and DOM SUPPORTS allowed to keep changing it. We have a 9day fortnight rota and I should be getting 1 Saturday in every 4 weeks off but according to the rota in our office ill have worked 7 weeks without one and there isn't one in sight. According to the DOM SUPPORT they can do that coz were understaffed (loads of staff are of sick). I'm beginning to think its not my problem! Someone help please :)

As a reserve you are unlikely to get a saturday off every four weeks,what you should get is the equivalent of 1in4 saturdays so you may get 2 in a row then none for 6-7 weeks then 1 then 3 weeks later another 2 then none for a while etc...you get the drift.

been a full time leave reserve for 8 years, i can go MONTHS without a saturday off, i only get one off if the duty i am doing has saturday as its day off which is few and far between! likewise if i get put on a duty where it has saturday off and the duty holder is off 2 weeks then i will get 2 off on the trot and then i might get put on another where he has saturday off then i get 3 on the trot, then it can be several months when i get one off again! thats the lot of a leave reserve i'm afraid.

I'm reserve thats been on the same duty nearly for a year that does not have a saturday off so I haven't had a saturday off for a year. And when I am put on another walk its never a saturday off.

The problem is if you are a reserve, is that you will likely be covering for people who are on annual leave, and will have deliberately picked those weeks, as to avoid their weekends off, hence no Saturdays off for reserves.

Reserves dont get a sat off in our office. If the duty theyre on has a sat off the managment change it too a tues, absolute joke, theres so much wrong with royal mail just now its about time the union got there finger out and ask there members the best way to go about resolving things i know what i would say.

Its a joke! And then we have colleagues moaning about this and that - often silly and minor things...

This situation for reserves is made worse by posties working their days off, some asking for extra saturdays off and getting it and most importantly some managers that don't care, some that are not on the ball and some being bullied by posties.

The job can be so unfair, sometimes!

I get 1 every 6 weeks. I go see my rep a week or so before its due and he sorts it out for me.
