Prep rate

Can anyone help me what is the agreed (if there is one ) prep rate for mechanised mail we recieve in boxes I heard it was 12-15 minutes per box BUT my line manager says 6 minutes also I was told my duty should take no longer than 40 minutes to prep ..bag up and be out of the office ( he's in a dream world ) In the last 8 years my delivery has had 270 more drops added on it and my prep time in the mornings has been halved, the last 3 weeks I've had 17 lots of D2D's and the constant pressure is relentless. HELP

There is no agreed prep rate for any mail apart from the 1 minute test.
Your DOM may have resourcing standards but they are not Individual Performance Standards and should not be treated as such.
He might think it should only take x minutes but there are 101 reasons why it might take longer.
And even if you failed the 1 minute test he then has to arrange retraining.

Ask him for the current documentation for agreed standards for prepping mech.

There cannot be a defined prep rate for a tray of sequenced, when the amount of letters they stuff in there can vary so much... It is supposed to be ~150 per tray, yet a couple of days ago, we had instances of multiple trays >300 letters per tray. Prep rates are based on letters per minute and the agreed figure for sequenced is based on throwing off into an empty frame. The 1min prep test is ~25 per minute?

5/6 lots of D2D prepped as 1/6th of your walk per day on a ~600 delivery point walk would likely take ~30 minutes alone, esepecially if you have double slots and put the D2D after each address' mail.

Your lino is talking testicles, 20-30mins to tie up including loading a HCT and sorting out drop bags is perfectly normal.

Have you had extra drops added because you are finishing early, depsite following correct outdoor protocol (pushing HCT everywhere, leaving mail unattended for >2mins in a high risk area in a HCT locked to an immovebale object is a sackable offence if caught by IB; filtering mail for next address while standing still outide the previous address' letterbox; etaking meal relief entitlement), claiming o/t and getting it paid when needed?

Many thanks for the replies as I thought there is no defined rate only the 1 minute IPS prep test, the reason for the additional drops is the fact deliveries have been dissolved into surrounding duties pure and simply the walks are too big when I stated this to my line manager he was quick to put it down to my individual performance BUT when I have asked to be tested on my indoor work and outdoor work they refuse stating they don't have the manpower to test me ?? Regarding the D2D's you are correct 25mins on average to prep yet this has not been considered in my prep element side, as I have said before each day is a constant struggle not just for me but the majority of colleagues in my office with bullying tatics being used by the management.

I generally take 9 mins per tray of sequenced mail.

Normally I get 2.5 trays of sequenced a day, plus 2 trays of flats from the flat sorting machines at the mail centre then collect up my ips.
