It's to help pay for the batteries for the lights on your HCT.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The money used to fund the Delivery Supplement comes from the money that used to be paid for D2D but the Delivery Supplement is not, repeat NOT, for anything to do with D2D.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: Delivery Supplement
yes its not 'for' anything as indoor workers also get it. it was a little sweetener to all staff to encourage them to vote yes to accept changes to working conditions and to make up for loosing up to 45quid a week - yes a week - when d2d money was stopped. very cleverly it was offered as a bribe to indoor staff as they didn't get d2d money anyway but by voting yes they got this weekly money for nothing - at delivery operatives expense. this bribe saw enough indoor staff out voting delivery staff and thereby accepting changes that would have been rejected by a ballot of only outdoor staff - who were the ones mainly affected. a classic example of 'divide and rule'
it will probably go soon make the most of it.

Re: Delivery Supplement
The injustice of it makes me feel quite queasy. How can it be a called a delivery supplement when full time indoor staff get the full whack (I assume) and guys on '18 hours a week' (but working 30) delivering as much mail as full time delivery staff get a pro rated kick in the jacksie? It's even strange that part timers get less than full time outdoor guys when they share a van and, ironically, probably deliver more mail overall than their partner if he/she is the driver.
It's just wrong. Plain and simple. Wrong.

Re: Delivery Supplement
yes it reflects an unjust and cynical manipulation of a workforce and it speaks volumes about the type of people that run this company. sadly as a ploy it worked because there is not enough solidarity between indoor and outdoors staff in RM and most people are out for themselves these days. very sad.

Re: Delivery Supplement
At the risk of going over old ground but for someone to be getting 45 pound in simply door to door money per week you would have had to be delivering 3 per week every week to over 900 delivery points unless. This was not the norm when this was being reviewed. remember back then you never got paid on your annual leave , sick leave or when they were withdrawn at christmas.
Since the delivery supplement came in , it has twice gone up in line with pay rises , door to door never went up once since 1994 when the agreement was introduced. it is paid 52 weeks per year when your off or no sick leave and even at christmas.
Door to Door has not grown at the rate they had hoped and average numbers of door to Door is still less than 3 nationally. There are hot spots in the South East , Thames Valley areas which regularly get 6 but the average will mean many other places are getting less than they were prior to 2010.
Now, the union took the postion that all delivery postmen should get thr payment whether they work in the reg cage or delivering firms. Remember no one who works outside of a delivery office recieves the suppllement. it is red herring that giving the delivery suppllement to those who work indoors in a delivery office somehow swing the vote. In any case why should a floater not get the suppllement or the reserve or the ex PHG ?
Now it is part of your basic pay the words in the BT Agreement states and I quote for delivery employees a £20.60 permanent supplement to basic pay pro rata for part time staff.
You see if you gave part timers a bigger lump of the pro rata than part time staff would be on a higher hourly rate than full timers, which would be unique and would be unacceptable to full timers.
where you have a good case and where the new job security agreement will help you is if you regularly do more hours against your own duty ie you example if you have a contract for 18 hours but you work 30 every week then you should over the next couple of months get an offer to go to 30 hours under this agreement and of course you will then reecieve an increase in the delivery suppllement.

Re: Delivery Supplement
Part-timers receive an element of the delivery supplement in their hourly rate for any hours worked between their contracted hours and full-time hours anyway.
What confuses part-timers is that it doesn't show up as an increase in DS on their payslip just a higher hourly rate.

I am full-time.97gaz wrote:No,I think what confuses part timers is why they bothered to go on strike only to come back up to £20 worse off while virtually all the full timers, me included made money with this deal..
I lost £12 p/w early shift allowance plus my D2D money when it was replaced by the delivery supplement.
My share of the "D2D pot" is around £9 per week for 39hrs.
How exactly did i make money with this deal?

Blimey! Didn't realise what a can of worms I opened. Now I know why nobody has ever explicitly bothered to explain it. Thanks for the information.

Re: Delivery Supplement
Most D.O's that are doing P&L it's the part timers that get shafted with the walking element and therefore have to prep more and deliver more of the D2D shite than the fulltimers who are mostly the drivers,I know they do some walking as well but nothing like as much as the p/timers so yes the p/timers have been shafted again.97gaz wrote:fishtank wrote:Part-timers receive an element of the delivery supplement in their hourly rate for any hours worked between their contracted hours and full-time hours anyway.

No,I think what confuses part timers is why they bothered to go on strike only to come back up to £20 worse off while virtually all the full timers, me included made money with this deal. It still makes me angry, no absolutely f~~king furious when I think of my area rep sitting at a local meeting telling us how they could'nt give the part timers more because it would upset the full timers.
I can't be bothered with all this "it's nowt to do with D2D, It's a delivery supplement crap" because facts are facts. The Union shafted the part timers.
BTW before anybody spouts up, I've been full time for over ten years, in a Union for 38 years and an ex CWU rep.Twice.
