Crossing the picket line..
As in the D.O I work. Some workers are reconsidering whether or not they are goin to strike this time round (5th 6th 8th &9th October). As they will lose to much pay and feel they are not getting anywhere etc!! If you are one of those and not sure, Then think of this.. With such a longer period of stoppage RM might just send those who choose to work in DOs to larger MCs using coaches etc. to help out where the work is, rather than paying non strikers to do nothing in their own DO. I think this could be a reality if enough cross the picket line!! Could you really cross another picket line? Think how that would destroy morale at that particular MC. Is it really worth it??? Could you really do it?? Mmmmm.

Cross the picket line? Worst point to wear is you explain to the new fellas, "the union wont back you if u scab an youll regret it", then bang, a month or year down the line, a stage3, disciplinary, overpayment o wages, conduct or harassment or personal issue an you fookd an all alone, the management happy to save one more body, an the union AND YOUR MATES turn there back like you did. Sadly this is the world i live in, an i choose allways to support the union and strike. Im not alone when im with my friends an we support each other. And, as for the people i ask why they come into work on a strike day, the reply "im here for myself an nuthing else" i pity you. I pity you , be alone.
Anyone know how the union started? Well, ancient history goes as i believe, once a coachdriver posty had his hands cut of because of missing post involving banknotes that he believed was never posted, having no rights or trial or appeal or representation, off with the hands (wouldnt be surprised if the axeman would be the area manager of old). Anyone know that story or find a link?

I am currently reading "Post Office Workers - A trade Union and Social History" Chapter 3 page 4 has this.
Do you think that the terrible twosome have been getting their plans from this book or what.It was only after 1800 that there were more than 1,000 people working for the Post Office. In 1792 the entire postal system of Manchester was conducted by an aged widow, together with her daughter and one letter carrier. Edinburgh boasted 3 letter carriers and there were establishments of four at Bristol, Bath and Birmingham. As late as 1834 only 600 letter carriers were needed to cover the whole of London"

Getting sick of hearing I cant afford it. No one can f*7k^%g afford it. No one really wants too. Its a case of having too. In my office I know where individuals are genuinely suffering with REAL hardship at present. Having to make major sacrifices in their lives just to get by and thats before you add loosing money because of industrial action. Real shite bad luck through no thought of their own. They will be there on the picket line. Every time I hear someone whine about it its like they are trying to justify to me and everyone why they are just a bunch of strike breakers. These are usually the ones that will cry the most when there is NO pension, they are jerked about day to day with jobs and hours etc.....
