How do you go about convincing posties not to shoot themselves in the foot? We are expecting a revision in the coming months and are trying to ensure that we accurately capture our indoor work hours. However in an office of twenty or so rounds about half a dozen are still coming in early and prepping next weeks D2Ds today. How do you convince these people they are their own worst enemy? The standard response is, "we'll be shafted anyway so it doesnt matter". Well if at the end of the process we are shafted I want be sure that I havn't shafted myself!

not sure with your revision,,,,but likewise early spring this year me and plenty of others in an office of 50 would be in early,,,,early start early finish,,,,,then they had an indoor revision to start,,,,ie backless primary and porters and snorters,,,,this was brought in with a policy of nobody on the office floor till start time of 6am.

we very quickly (recluctantly) got used to this,,,,,,now the out door revision is iminant the walks in general look ok,,,,notice i said look.

Sounds exactly like my office Rinky!! I have worked in few offices and its the same everywhere I have worked. Its get better than that though....I see people absorb other rounds after there scheduled time?!! Come in early as you say doing door 2 doors is very common. In fact I see people on part time hours working harder than some full timer (that's not saying that the full timers are not working there block off too) and I can truly say that I'm in the minority when it comes to doing my job correctly. In fact I find that I have been told I'm taken the piss on occasions even by my fellow work colleagues because I don't bow down to managerial pressure. It infuriates me what I see going in Royal Mail and sadly your title says it all.....Shooting yourself in the foot. Another title it could have been is......Will you be my bitch?!!! I think that's probably the first question they ask in postmen interviews!! as we seem to have a lot of them in Royal mail.

Just the same in my office, I try to get it into ppls head but they all rush around like its job and knock still. 12:15 somebody signed out today and finish time was 2:40. Shocking.
