Need your help guys,
I've asked the union rep this question and other posties tell me he is wrong. So with so many answers to my question I don't know what is right or wrong.
I have been on the job now for about 2 months, I work a 3 day week working 23.5 hours [an average day of 7H 48 mins per day] Being new I don't have a set duty so I am moved to different jobs every week with various shift lengths. Some weeks I am rostered less than 23.5 hours and some weeks I am rostered more than 23.5 hours. Right now the average I have worked is less than 23.5 hours which is in my favour but I know it could at some point go in the opposite direction. And as we head towards Christmas it most probably will, so hence asking the question.
Right now If I am booked to work 3 shifts totalling 22 hours for the week and work 30 mins overtime a day. I book 1.5 hours overtime for the week. Even though the hours worked for the week are equal to my contracted weekly pay. But when I am rostered 26 hours for the week and book 30 mins overtime per day. I still only book 1.5 hours for the week even though I have worked over my weekly hours by 2.5 hours.
I have read somewhere on this forum that there is no banking of hours. But looking at how I am rostered it would appear that something like this is going on.
Like I said the average amount of hours I have worked is currently less than my contracted hours so it is not a problem right now. So can any one tell me what is the correct procedure with booking overtime when my rostered hours varies each week on a 23.5 hour contract

Re: Hours Worked/Overtime Pay
You should only be getting paid OT for the hours you actually work (and TBH we should be working all the hours that we're paid for) so if you're 30 minutes over then you book it but if you're 15 minutes over then you book that.

Re: Hours Worked/Overtime Pay
Seems to me that you are correctly booking the overtime. You are effectively on Longs and Shorts but your total contracted hours should work out over a two week period. So if you take each day individually, whatever hours you are down to work for that day, if you go over then you are entitled to book the overtime. There is no agreement in Royal Mail for banking of hours, so do not let any manager con you in to thinking there is.
