How confusing it all is ?

i have my induction day on wednesday and start the job on thursday just would like a general idea on what the first cople of weeks will involve and how confusing it all is lol

Your first day, possibly two or three days, will involve shadowing someone. After that you'll be given a round to deliver it. It's not really too confusing just common sence. They may ask you to come in and "prep" which means putting the letters into the correct order for the round but that depends on your hours.

I'll tell it how it is as it will hit home when you start - there's a good chance the office won't know you're starting that day so will be completely unpreppared for you arriving. You'll be pushed by management to do extra work for free to see how much they can take advantage of you so stay strong from the outset. You won't get training on 80% of what to do so you learn by making mistakes and getting told off.

Just make sure you don't take mail out then bring it back if you run out of time - always leave mail in the depot if you think you wont have time to deliver it all. And make sure you know phone numbers / what time the depot shuts so you're not left with anything and don't know what to do with it.

Be strong first couple of day is hard after that u should be alright I remember when I star my walk my own first day I finished my delivery at4.do u have a car?

they will try to break you in your first week too see if you will last, they will also try not to pay you OT. be very careful and dont take no s**t from anyone.

Don't try to be smart, you know what I mean. Obviously for the first couple of weeks they won't be saying that. I mean in the future.

I bought myself a pocket size A-Z and it has been invaluable. As a reserve, you will be going out on a lot of different walks so it may come in handy. If you are lucky (as I have been) the guys that I have been working with on P&L have been really helpful and patient. Points to remember are-
Dont come in early
Don't take any crap from managers. (they will have you running your arse off if they can)
Remember that you have to sign a form for your overtime, it won't be paid otherwise.
Treat Special delivery and Tracked items as though they are your private parts. Any foul ups and they will have you out of the door.
In the first few days, take your time. You will get quicker at delivery and prepping as time goes on.

it may sound a bit daunting but you will get used to it. Try to enjoy it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah same here. I am a fairly new lamb to the slaughter. Just talking from experience. Why will it be a busy week whoever said that?

bank holiday monday will mean wednesday onwards will be living hell so be warned that there will be a s**t load of extra post , you will probably get asked to lapse other rounds too unless there has been a revision, you will basically be thrown into the deep end and asked to swim or sink.
