Surrey Police email Woking residents to warn of post theft
Residents in Woking have been emailed by Surrey Police warning that post, including bank cards, has been stolen.
There have been reports of men in high-visibility jackets going through mail bags and reaching into letter boxes under the guise of delivering leaflets.
In the email police called on residents to report any suspicious activity.
In May, Royal Mail launched an investigation into postal theft when fake bank accounts were set up and large sums of money stolen.
The postal service said it could not comment on the recent thefts due to its ongoing investigation.
In an email to residents, Surrey Police said: "The local team will be stepping up patrols in the area and approaching the local sorting office with a view to addressing the local posties in order to increase their vigilance and also scare off any potential offenders."
It added there had been three recent reports of post being stolen.

Also.. I'd like to know how the police are emailing people in Woking.. It does make you wonder how they are going to doing this.. ie send out a few and ask people to forward them?
I for one would be worried if any Policeforce had ANY of my email addresses and I'd like to know how they get hold of people's email addresses too.
