Personnel Manual

Post by RolandButter »

Can someone please advise me of the personnel manual which is part of its People Management Framework. Apparently it forms part of my contract of employment. I have no idea where to get the information on this as I need to know about section A4 (your rights and obligations in the event of absence by reason of sickness or injury). How are you supposed to know your rights if they don't make the information readily available to you? All info greatly received.

Know your rights:
These are your rights:

Number 1: You have the right not to be killed
Murder is a CRIME!
Unless it was done by a
Policeman or an aristocrat

Number 2:
You have the right to food money
Providing of course you
Don't mind a little
Humiliation, investigation
And if you cross your fingers
Rehabilitation

Number 3: You have the right to freeeee
Speech as long as you're not
Dumb enough to actually try it.

Finally:
You have the right to remain silent
You are warned that anything you say
Can and will be taken down
And used as evidence against you
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Royal Mail managers.....about as popular as a t.urd in a swimming pool!
The DDA/Equality Act demands action,NOT words......adjustments NOT Occupational Health referrals.Case No:2505901/09
Royal Mail is an Equal Opportunities Employer..It discriminates against everybody.

This is interesting, what you are asking in any other areas of employment outside Royal Mail would be the employees handbook.
That would list things like the attendance and diciplinary procedure, holiday entitlement etc. consider it a mini contract of employment.

Royal Mail do not have employees hand book as such things allready mentioned are delt with by way of the Industrial Relations procedure or framework (CWU)

People Management Framework and world class mail are deemed to be undermining agreed procedure and should be challenged, especially on the issue described by the poster

I take is we are talking of the peoples portal that managers have a direct link to as PPM is news to me

Well, I am off sick and ATOS are hounding me. My manager is like a dog with a bone and I think he is using underhand tactics. I don't know what they can force me to do by way of how often they expect me to come in for meetings etc. I have only one word - HARASSMENT

Daniel Tulp, Information Rights Officer wrote:1. Keeping in contact with employee:

Royal Mail Group has a contact strategy with employees who are off sick from work. On the first day of an absence the employee must contact their line manager, If the employee cannot speak directly to their manager (and therefore has to leave a message), they must leave their contact details so that the manager can ring them back during the employee’s shift or working day in order to find out how the employee is, and discuss the likely length of absence. They will also discuss what support, if appropriate, can be offered to help the employee back to work and agree the level and nature of contact during the first week of absence. Regular contact should be maintained if the absence goes beyond seven days.

2. Management interview requests and established guidelines for these interviews.

The business makes the following guidelines available in relation to management interviews:

If the employee is away from work for more than two weeks, and either the manager or the employee feels this would be helpful, the employee can request, or the manager will invite, the employee to attend a meeting which would normally take place at work or, if this is inappropriate, at the employee's home if they so wish.

The purpose of the discussion will be to allow the employee and manager to contribute to the return to work plan - help to identify barriers to their return to work and the options available.

Thanks. I think they just make the rules up as they go along sometimes. Everything seems to be 'at the manager's discretion'. In other words they can do what they like. They seem to be reluctant to give out any hard copies of the rules, probably so you don't know any better.
