porters & sorters saves time on walking around the office clearing down mail leading to super sorters

Well in our case it was out with the old and in with the new in a weekend with contractors in to do the moving. So Monday morning and the office has new backless frames with space behind for the little trolleys to collect the mail in trays for the porters - what we didn't have was porters. So it's new frames same old sorters, no porters and preppers collect the mail from either the front or the back depending on preference...............so to sum up - a total waste of time and money.

were supposed to me `doing this` sometime soon,,,,,keeps getting put back,,,frames on order they say

at the moment from 6am were lucky to have enough full timers to have more than 2 on the ips
this new idea,,,,is supposed to give us 6 on ips,,,2 on packets,,,and 2 porters

never being bright at maths at school there body count is alittle bit out

btw this is in an office of about 45 duties

sweat pours off you all the time trying to keep all duties going during duties have actually seen people jogging round with trolly
we have reported it being too much for one man to cope with
still waiting on solutions

That seems about right, piss up in a brewery springs to mind.

How about a cattle prod hans Our porters are lucky in that respect we don't have any - there wasn't enough bodies apparently so we just have sorters and preppers, the preppers get the mail for two walks - like they did before.

how may duties do you prep start time 6am we are expected to prep 2 duties and our own to completion
3 full duties and they give us 40 min for each

Wtf who has tiled floor ffs ours is concrete and who do you see about getting pictures on the floor - I fancy one of Kelly Brook nekkid - now there is a bonus incentive. Oh and one with my current address in case I forget where I live.

It was implemented in our DO but soon died a death as soon as a porter was absent no one was really willing to do it. Management got fed up with people pointing out portering was a demoralising task so everyone gave up.

Well it was pointed out that it gave the impression that of the three disciplines a porter was sort of at the bottom of preferences - bit like the last kid to be chosen for the team so to speak.

There is a serious point in that when justifying the increased delivery spans it was recognised that this would only be possible if the rest of your duty was made up of "light indoor work".
I hardly think dragging trays and trolleys around an office all morning constitutes "light indoor work".
I'll get straight on the phone to Bob Gibson...i'm sure they've already got a plan....
