If Atos have deemed you to be DDA they should have also registered you with Royal Mails Disability Helpline(they are supposed to keep a database of people who need adjustments
) but if they haven't(and they do this alot) you should give them a ring and request that your registered with them.
As for the hospital appointments then they are supposed to give you the time off, your DOM is a fooktard
(but thats a given) who hasn't read anything on the DDA or Equality since he was `trained` as a manager.
Reasonable adjustments can include:
a) Allocating some of the disabled person’s duties to another person
b) Transferring a disabled employee to fill an existing vacancy
c) Altering working hours
d) Assigning them to a different place of work
e) Allowing them to be absent during working hours for rehabilitation,
assessment or treatment
f) Giving him/her or arranging for him/her to be given training
g) Acquiring or modifying equipment
h) Modifying instructions or reference manuals
i) Modifying procedures for testing or assessment
j) Providing a reader or interpreter
k) Providing supervision

Royal Mail managers.....about as popular as a t.urd in a swimming pool!
The DDA/Equality Act demands action,NOT words......adjustments NOT Occupational Health referrals.Case No:2505901/09
Royal Mail is an Equal Opportunities Employer..It discriminates against everybody.

Regular medical treatment and hospital appointments:
Where regular treatment or hospital appointments are occurring the employee should try and get appointments outside work hours and Royal Mail should help by arranging changes to working hours wherever possible. Managers should treat requests for additional time off with sympathy bearing in mind that a stoppage of pay may add to the stress of having to attend hospital for treatment or for hospital appointments. Individuals involved in hospital treatment or those attending a hospital appointment should provide confirmation of from their Doctor or the hospital, and absences should not count towards attendance procedure.
