Door to door theft...

Hi,

I have a question. Does anybody know of anyone who has ever been caught for door to door leaflet theft?

I have, in one office I have worked, seen all the lads there take leaflets that entitled them to a free pack of lurpack spreadable butter and also remember when there were some for wearherspoons pubs.

In the office in question, the manger was very open in letting the staff take some of these leaflets for themselves but I was just wondering if anyone knew of any stories whereby someone may have recited a warning for such a thing?

Possibly the worst crime ever, and by worst I don't mean most serious!

I can't say I've ever heard of it but if the people who paid RM to deliver them found out I doubt they would be very impressed, however I think its highly doubtful anyone would care.

Who is their right mind would want to 'nick 'd2d items..lol..gotta be one of the most ridiculous things i have ever heard of while working for RM....
Most customers i deliver them to either throw them straight in the bin or tear them up!

I was asking the question because one member of my office has been dismissed for allegedly stealing 2 door to door leaflets.

The leaflets in question were for the sandwich shop 'Subway'.

It has never been proven that he stole them, RM have found no proof that any were taken nor any proof of him removing them from his office. They have claimed a 'reasonable doubt' due to the member appearing on 3 CCTV still images in a queue in subway and on non of the images is he at the till paying or doing anything else that would infer he used the same voucher 3 times.

He is now going to a tribunal as the managers have simply closed rank, even though there were 12 members pictures he is the only one to lose his job and unfortunately, the CWU have opted not to fund his representation so he is now at the point of representing himself.

I posed the initial question because the penalty seems harsh in the extreme even if they could have proved he stole 2 leaflets by catching him red handed but as it stands, they didn't even prove this.

If anyone does know of anyone who has simply had a chat/warning when being caught red handed, this would obviously serve as comparator and further prove the victimization at work.

Never did that, but didn't deliver them a lot of the time. It
soon caught up with me though. Got my life back on track
now and haven't looked back.
