I am looking for some help clarifying a point for me about my current contract. Some back ground info on myself I have worked for Royal Mail for 15 years initially as a part timer then made full time in 2000/2001 and the in 2008 I took a buy down in hours to 5 (Saturday contract) to be a stay at home dad. After the two year timescale was over, May 2010, I asked if it was possible to increase my hours again and was told it wouldn't be a problem and there was plenty of overtime until this happened.
This never happened in September 2011 I was offered a temporary increase in hours up to 25 and I was happy to take this and was told that once our revision had taken place I would be made permanent maybe even full time as I'm the senior part timer. I never signed anything when my hours were increased.
My question is that if my situation changes can I ask to be returned to my 5 hours whenever I want, if I can would I need to give any notice to my manager.
