Advice please re: big van hourly rate

Hi, would appreciate some advice please. I am a big van driver at a D.O, and i am therefore on the higher hourly rate. We will soon be having a re-sign, and i would like to know that if i pick a duty that isnt the big van rate (but there are big van duties available for me to sign for) will i lose that rate and go back to the normal postman's hourly rate.

do you mean the 27 quid driving allowance ? if you pick a duty thats doesnt use a big van you will lose your allowance

3.5 tonne pays the 28 quid allowance. in a resign if you dont get a duty with this allowance youll get pay protection if youve done enough time on said duty.

If you choose to move down to OPG, then your extra pay is forfeit, and you earn bog standard OPG + delivery supplement.

I'm assuming you are undergoing a MTSF resign, since they are fashionable at the moment.

You should get first pick of the MGV grade jobs, as it would be the best match to your accrued pay protection (you are 'worth more' than your colleagues therefore you get first pick at the higher earning jobs)

If all the MGV jobs are worth the same (i.e. attract the exact same allowances down to the 0.001 penny (not joking)) then those jobs would be ringfenced and then offered in seniority order, to the people who have the appropriate pay protection.

If, for some reason, you cannot be allocated a job with appropriate value, then you would be allocated the closest match that is lower than your pay protection (you cannot get a job that is worth more than you).

You can turn down any offer, however you will lose ALL pay protection, and be moved to the bottom of the list for the general resign at the end for all people who opt out like you would have.

Basically, if the world was perfect, in a MTSF resign, you get a list of jobs in money order (highest to lowest), and on the same page a list of employee's in money order (highest to lowest) and just draw lines across, and bang you are done. It's only complicated when you sandbox some allowances and start retrofitting seniority into it.
