Saturday guarantee special delivery

is this just a con? i have had countless specials on a saturday that dont have the yellow SG sticker on them.
im asking because i sent something special this afternoon and was told its not guaranteed until monday, but they usually get there the next day anyway.

so is it just a ploy to get an extra few £s?

theres still quite a few DOs who have early finish saturdays and only do SG specials on saturdays, and usually get there is a lot different from guaranteed

So when all the revisions are in place and Saturday really is a normal working day everywhere then Royal Mail will stop charging the extra £2.70 for SG ?

Probably not, they will still only guarantee the SG will be there on Saturday.

as said,there are DOs that only do SGs
also with an SG,the DO should attempt all of them
eg those firms that would normally be closed
nobody says the SD wont be delivered on Saturday(at this point anyway)
its simply a service if it needs to be there on Saturday
remember its one of the services thats now VAT liable

i dont blame royal mail for charging extra for saturday guaranteed,,,,,try sending a parcel through another firm,,,or order online for something on a saturday "usually" you have to pay a premium,,,,i think they should expand it "if possible" to mail as well,,,seem to post a lot of crap on a saturday,,,this morning was busier than either thursaday or friday just gone,,,,,and were still on the early finish times on a saturday

No its not a con, just a mistake.

If you send something special delivery on a Friday, and DON'T choose Saturday Guaranteed, you should be able to count on it being delivered on the Monday.
Unfortunately it usually goes out the next day on the Saturday, I have no idea why.

This means if you day off is the Monday and you want to have something delivered on that day, its almost impossible. You'll get a card when you are out on the Saturday and have to go and pick it up yourself on the Monday.

Ha no one will be lucky enough to get out the DO for one oclock when the revision comes to town, I know I have not taken a special since the revision began, there is no point I am leaving the DO so late, I have no chance of making the 1.00 pm deadline.

Not right, if it's handed out by the PHG then it's due by 1pm. They all go into the system and will flag up as a failure on the PDA.
