Got a question for a CWU Rep? And all CWU related matters.

im a new rep

Was going for sub rep but went for rep job instead in our election. Heard today that other person who put name forward has decided against it so i am going to become the new rep in the not to distant future. What the hell do i do know? Im really looking forward to the challenge but what does a new rep do in his first week/weeks in the job. Going through p&l revision and previous rep has told me he has had no idea whats going on as he hasnt been released to assist with it.

The first thing you'd need to do is to inform the Manager that the revision will not progress any further until you have been trained on the use of the revision tools and have a full understanding of the work thus far undertaken.

speak to your branch and get on this course as soon as you can

AGREEMENTS AND PROCEDURES

that will be the first of many

you will make mistakes along the way even though people will believe you to be the font of all knowledge.

recruit a health and safety rep to your office as well who then can double up as a sub rep

that will be THEN double trouble then for your dom

EDUCATION IS THE KEY, AND IT WORKS

induction course is good. takes 2 days and is usually done locally. then be your own man, and do what you think is right. take advice but filter it.
