Employee transfer to Bristol
Hello im 36 and have worked for Royal Mail for 17 years and currently a full time MGV driver at Sheffield MC. I am seeking a transfer to the Bristol area to be with my partner. I'm basically after any information or short cuts on how i could make a transfer happen. I'm flexible and would consider working for Royal Mail in any capacity to make this happen. i also wondered if anybody out here knew which mail centres within a 30/40 mile radius of Bristol employes MGV drivers. I would be very greatful for any information.

Hi. Ironicly i'm in a very similar situation except i'm looking towards Newport area in south Wales. With this in mind this is a run done of what i've been told and what has happened so far:
Was told to ring around the offices around the area I was going to.
Was warned I may have to drop down to part time.
I looked on internet for offices in the area I was going to (I found thompsonlocal/businessfinder was good for addresses and phone numbers) and rang a 3. All said I need to go through HR, so stopped calling offices and rang HR (number on back of pay slip). All they said was need to put in a transfer request in. Went to speak to DOM (who I get in ok with) about it and he agreed to send an e-mail to offices in the area to see what, if any, places were available. So far 2 replies one saying they've been told to lose 14 full time jobs (not sure how that is when they're meant to be making more full time jobs) and the other saying the are taking people on but only temporary (3 months) part time. My DOM did tell me he doesn't think Wales have gone through the revision yet so some offices might be holding hours back in case they need them (someone left and not replaced) and more might be available after revisions. This has happen in the last week.
So basically: Transfer request.
If you get on with a manager ask them to send an e-mail ask available postions and maybe if revision has happened.
Get phone numbers and ring offices and try to speak to DOM's.
The fact that your moving to be with your partner might help you push it through quicker if you find something.
